The WNY Women's Foundation is dedicated to championing issues and solutions critical to the success of women and girls. We encourage and support initiatives that have a gender lens approach and are within our three strategic priorities of:

  • Out of School Time: Provides opportunities for quality out of school time initiatives
  • Child Care: Supports affordable, quality and accessible child care initiatives
  • Family Sustaining Jobs: Provides educational and vocational training toward career pathways

The WNY Women's Foundation is dedicated to championing issues and solutions critical to the success of women and girls. Our grant making will be a combination of our strategic priorities and preferred methods. The preferred methods are:

  • Advocacy
  • Leadership development/Girls as Leaders
  • Economic Self-sufficiency

To better focus our grant making process, we implemented a Social Impact Evaluation Framework with the Indicators of Social Change listed below, to help applicants identify the kind of social change they intend to achieve. Using this framework the WNY Women's Foundation considers social change is successfully measured, when one or more of the following shifts occur:

Indicators of Social Change

  1. Shifts in definition or reframing of issues: The issue is defined differently in the community or larger society.
  2. Shifts in individual or community behavior: Change in individual behavior that leads to increased community capacity to organize for social change.
  3. Shifts in critical mass or engagement & awareness: People in the community or larger society are more engaged.
  4. Shifts in institutions or policies: An institutional policy or practice has changed.
  5. Maintaining or holding the line: Earlier progress has been maintained in the face of opposition.

The WNY Women's Foundation does not fund capital campaigns and endowment funds; individuals; programs or events located outside Erie/Niagara County; general operating costs; annual or fundraising events and routine training sessions and meetings.
