Breakfast Speaker Series

Thank you to everyone, especially Congresswoman Kathy Hochul for participating in our Spring Breakfast Speaker Series on Thursday, April 5th focusing on Issues and Advocacy.  What an inspiring morning for all!

The Breakfast Speaker Series has provided an informative platform for conversations since 2008.  Over the course of the year, the WNY Women's Foundation and it's volunteers, have hosted a range of public events including speakers and panels on the following topics:

  • Financial literacy education and asset building strategies
  • Pathways to Progress
  • Low Wage Jobs for Single Moms
  • Future of Childcare/QUALITYstarsNY
  • Value of Women as Community Leaders
  • Twitter, Tweens and Teens - Cyber Bulling, Friending, Sexting, Facebook, Blogging and Photo Sharing

Our past breakfasts this year include one we held on January 17, 2012 and titled: Women in nontraditional jobs.  Thank you to the following for an enlightening panel discussion:

  • Ruby L Davis, Mounted Patrol Deputy
  • Annette Di Franco, Steamfitter journeywoman/foreman
  • Lieutenant Christina Newman, Training and Personnel Development, Cheektowaga Police Dept.
  • Ellen Peoples, City of Buffalo Firefighter
